12 XI 2008Culture for Tolerance in Prague
From November 8th to 10th our Foundation participated in first european queer and LGBT culture festivals workshops which took place during "Mezipatra", Czech Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in Prague. We aimed to create a new way of collaboration, co-production and exchanging experience in LGBT culture managment and programming.

The jubilee, 5th edition of the Culture for Tolerance Festival will take place in Kraków from the 24th to the 27th of April 2008.
It's leading motive will be "Sexuality. Radicalism. Revolution." The character of the events running during the Festival will

Since May 23rd we start a new series of meetings "PRO:kreacje!". We would
like to get socialized, educate and have fun. The meetings will take place
every week on wednesdays till the end of June and since Septmeber 15th.

23 III 2007Daniela Sea at the Festival!
During the 4th Culture for Tolerance Festival we invite you to a meeting with actor, Daniela Sea, who plays one of the lead roles in the cult television series, The L Word. In the series she plays a transgender (F to M) character, Max. At the festival's opening (where the keynote event will be a showing of the film, Shortbus, in which Daniela features) it will be possible not only to ask Daniela questions about her role in the film and the television series, but also about herself. Also planned is a short meeting with Daniela during the showing of the entire 3rd season of The L Word on Sunday.

Welcome to the third edition of the Culture for Tolerance Festival. Gay and lesbian rights in Poland are still a debatable issue, and acceptance for sexual minorities is an exception to the rule. Yet for a third time, the dedicated festival team makes it possible for Polish LGBT-people to be seen and noticed. Come and celebrate democracy!
The Culture For Tolerance festival is a review of various creative activities that have been designed by, for or about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people. The third edition of our Festival is slightly different from the previous ones. This time we are not only interested in working with the outside world, but also building our own identity. We want the Festival to be a space for discussion on identity and political project of its participants: lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. "Culture for Tolerance 2006" offers a wide range of events forming following thematic groups:
I. Visibility campaigns - postulating overt presence in the public life.
- March For Tolerance is a key event in the public space. We want to show that we object to discrimination and pushing us on to the sidelines.
- Visit to the Auschwitz Museum. We intend to commemorate the homosexual victims of the World War II - the people, who died for the sole reason of being different.
- Homophobia Clinic - the workshops organized by Lesbian Confederation.
II. The scientific conference organised by Campaign Against Homophobia in Cracow entitled "Queer Rite of Passage", devoted to the problem of forming of non-normative identities. We are going to analyse how the rites of passage of the majority group - especially marriage, giving birth to and raising children - are interpreted and performed in the LGBT community (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people). We also plan to focus on the initiation rite most representative for our group - coming out. We will analyse it as a process and an experience of both political and private importance. We are also interested in how the mainstream culture presents the process of discovering/experiencing one’s own sexuality. III. The debates devoted to art as well as social problems.
- The political debate organized by Campaign Against Homophobia - have homosexual people got political representation?
IV. Queer Café - a brand new series of meetings! Our purpose is to, refraining from using sometimes unintelligible language of theory, analyse queer culture during informal chats over a cup of coffee. Queer café means:
- discussions about Polish gay and lesbian literature
- discussions about the situation of homosexual people living in our neighbour countries
- "Gas the Faggots!" - the lecture about the causes of homophobia
- "Angels in America" - how a single play managed to transform American drama
- a poetry set to music concert in French and in Polish
- meetings devoted to discussing the mainstream culture from the point of view of gay and lesbian culture
V. Movie screenings and meetings with their authors:
- Homosexuals, cinema and religion: "Trembling before God". The screening of a famous documentary.
- Cinema and queer: "Beautiful Boxer", "Sugar"
- Off cinema and a meeting with the authors: "Falling", ""Barcelona - there and back", "My Helsinki"
- L-Word - cult lesbian TV-series
- And for dessert a cult movie: "The Wizard of Oz" starring Judy Garland
VI. Workshops:
- Workshop of self-defence for women - WenDo. WenDo means both assertiveness and self-defense training. It includes physical as well as psychological self-defense. It puts more emphasis on assertiveness than "standard" self-defence does. During the WenDo workshop you will be taught the simples but the most effective techniques, which do not require months of tedious practice. The trainers will show you how to turn your weaknesses into strengths. Trainers: Monika Serkowska, Agata Teutsch. To enrol on one of groups (for 16 people each) contact Kasia Stefanow - kaste@wp.pl.
- Safer sex workshop
- Belgian and Polish workshop: "A Rainbow between Antwerp and Cracow" organized by Belgian LGBT activists about their experiences, theory and practice of their work. Workshop held in English. The speakers: Jan Vandersmissen, Yves Aerts, Dennis De Brauwer and Mieke Stessens. This workshop has been organised thanks to fruitful cooperation between LGBT activists from Antwerp and Cracow. Jan, Yves, Dennis and Mieke will be talking about their expierences in creating gay movement and its base. How did they deal with legal and financial aspect? How did they shape their position in the media? What are the strenghts and weaknesses of the movement based on voluntary work? The workshop can be the source of inspiration for all the Polish LGBT activists.
VII. Clubbing. We will be having fun until morning in the best clubs in Krakow.
